We continue to honour this original vision by introducing an innovative platform of patient care called Clinical Synergistic Recovery (CSR). BIOFLEX CSR includes the core foundation of Laser (Photobiomodulation) Therapy combined with specific evidence based non-invasive therapeutic modalities that provide synergistic effects to optimize patient recovery and symptom relief. The first in our new line of CSR therapeutic modalities is the BIOFLEX Radial Shockwave Therapy System. It is a non-invasive pressure wave treatment primarily indicated for subacute and chronic musculoskeletal and soft-tissue conditions (e.g., tendinopathies, plantar fasciitis, calcifications, muscle hypertonicity, trigger points). It works through mechanical stimulation, improved circulation, and modulating pain and healing pathways, leading to enhanced tissue repair. When combined with laser (photobiomodulation) therapy, clinicians leverage complementary mechanisms—mechanical for tissue activation and light-based for cellular metabolism—to improve recovery outcomes and accelerate healing. This webinar will briefly review the history, mechanisms of physiological actions, contraindications, and parameters of shockwave therapy as well as the features of the BIOFLEX ESWT device. Synergistic Effects of Radial Shockwave Therapy and Laser(Photobiomodulation) Therapy
Although both radial shockwave (rESWT) and laser therapies are effective individually, their mechanisms target different stages of tissue repair. Shockwave therapy mechanically stimulates slow to heal soft tissues by breaking pathological tissue patterns, remodeling collagen and stimulating neovascularization. Whereas Laser Therapy (Photobiomodulation or PBMT) stimulates cellular and biochemical stimulation through ATP production and mitochondrial enhancement, anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant effects that result in tissue repair and regeneration.
