Only 8 percent of People Actually Keep their New Year's Resolutions..
It's that time of year again where many promises are made for oneself and many fail. Is 2019 your year to succeed in this endeavor or is this the year you fall off that resolution wagon... Again...
Here are 10 tips to keep you on that path to success! However before we start...
Some history first on this yearly phenomenon...
A New Year's resolution is a tradition, most common in the Western Hemisphere but also found in the Eastern Hemisphere, in which a person resolves to change an undesired trait or behavior, to accomplish a personal goal or otherwise improve their life. New Year resolutions also have deep religious origins.
Babylonians made promises to their gods at the start of each year that they would return borrowed objects and pay their debts.
The Romans began each year by making promises to the god Janus, for whom the month of "January" is named.
In the Medieval era, the knights took the "peacock vow" at the end of the Christmas season each year to re-affirm their commitment to chivalry.
At night services, many Christians prepared for the year ahead by praying and making these resolutions.
Popular New Year Resolution Goal + Tips (The Secret Sauce)
Well, now’s your chance to sit down and prepare a list of important lifestyle changes you want to make, so here at BioFlex Laser we’ve decided to give you a bit of help because since the majority of people fail to stick to their resolution, (we will provide you with that data later on) you’ll need all the help you can get... And Help you shall receive!
Get in shape:
Losing weight is the top resolution for many around the world, and combined with “exercise more” and “stay fit and healthy” it is something that over a third of those making that resolution wish to achieve. It’s easy enough to start an exercise and diet program the key to success is sticking to it!
Tip #1 (Secret Sauce): Throw out the scales! Don’t be so attached to a number. Scales can often be deceiving. For example, if you are dehydrated, you may see the numbers drop, but you haven’t really lost any fat. Instead, base your success on measurements and how well your clothes fit.
Tip #2 (Extra Secret Sauce): Remember that while a pound of fat and a pound of muscle weigh the same, muscle takes up a lot less room in your clothes. Don’t be afraid to gain muscle weight. Adding more muscle will also raise your metabolism and keep your body-fat percentage low.
Tip #3 (Magic Secret Sauce): Consume whole foods (Natural) over processed food! Your body understands the basic chemistry of 'real' food and utilizes it much better. However, when you add processed foods into the fray, you usually are adding more sugar, sodium, chemicals, and refined carbohydrates. Keep your diet to whole, unprocessed foods, and you should see a difference in your waistline.
Tip #4 (Silver Secret Sauce): Don’t drink your calories! Carbonated beverages (soft drinks) are often loaded with sugar. Those “empty” calories can add up very quickly, without giving you the satisfaction of being full. In fact, one or two servings of a carbonated drink / glass of juice has more calories than a balanced meal.
Tip #5 (Golden Secret Sauce): Small habits, and small plates, add up! Smaller plates often equal smaller portion sizes, thus reducing your daily caloric intake. Try swapping out your regular dinner plates for a smaller design.
Tip #6 (Platinum Secret Sauce): Don’t be afraid of healthy fat! Contrary to the low fat trendy movements of the past, healthy fats do not cause weight gain. Don’t be afraid to eat coconuts, avocados, or nuts. Eating whole, natural foods in their raw form will help fill you up without adding on the pounds. FAT CAN BE YOUR FRIEND.
Tip #7 (Mega Secret Sauce): Stay hydrated! Often, our body will send signals that we are hungry when we are actually dehydrated. Drinking plenty of water will help you feel less hungry throughout the day.
Tip #8 (King Secret Sauce): Don’t neglect weight training! Adding muscle, through activities such as weight training, increases your metabolism and fights fat. Lifting weights also helps to strengthen your bones, improve balance, and regulate your blood sugar. Remember muscle is metabolically active and fat is not. In other words, the more lean mass you have, (Muscle) the more calories at rest you will burn. So don't be afraid to pump that iron like Arnold Schwarzenegger (Well maybe not exactly like him. You get the picture)
Tip #9 (Ultra Secret Sauce): Intensity matters more than time! Slogging away on that treadmill for an hour at an easy walk may not be your best option for losing weight. One study found that obesity odds decreased by 5% for women and 2% for men for every additional minute of high-intensity exertion.
Tip #10 (Ultimate Secret Sauce): Rest and Recovery! If you don’t feel rested, you may be tempted to turn to those not so healthy snacks to get your through the day. There is a strong connection between sleeping disorders and weight gain. So make sure to turn in at a decent time and make sleep a priority if you are trying to drop pounds. Moreover, with a daily exercise routine that incorporates cardiovascular and resistance training, your body will need the proper rest for optimal muscle recovery or the chances of muscle injury can increase substantially. No pain no gain can take you only so far if you damage muscle tissue.
Sometimes our best laid plans can go sideways. It's one of various reasons why many who make New Year Resolutions don't follow through with their goals. A 2007 study by Richard Wiseman from the University of Bristol involving 3,000 people showed that 88% of those who set New Year resolutions fail, despite the fact that 52% of the study's participants were confident of success at the beginning.
Another reason why some fail in their New Year Resolution to get in shape happens if they get injured working out or exercising. The chances increase if individuals are just starting out on a new program they have never adopted before.
Get Back Into The Game
Musculoskeletal injuries can temporarily move you off that path, however you do have options!
Laser therapy, also referred to as cold laser or low level laser or light therapy (LLLT), has clinically been proven to be an effective treatment for a broad range of conditions including musculoskeletal injuries, soft tissue damage, and sport injuries.
Cold laser therapy does not heat or cut tissue, unlike high intensity lasers. Many pharmacological treatments mask pain or only address the symptoms of the disease; laser Therapy treats the underlying condition or pathology to promote healing. This means that the treatments are effective and the benefits of laser therapy are long lasting... Getting you back into the game and on the path to slay your New Resolution goals! So don't fall in that category of 92% New Year Resolution failure rate! Make failure not an option in 2018!
